Windows Terminal is a new, open-source terminal application for Windows 10 and later. It offers multiple tabs, GPU-accelerated text rendering, rich text formatting, and deep customization via JSON settings. It supports WSL, PowerShell, Cmd, and any command-line tool. The project also includes the classic console host (conhost.exe) and shared components. Installation is recommended via Microsoft Store for automatic updates, but manual downloads and package managers like winget, Chocolatey, and Scoop are also supported. A Canary nightly build is available for early feature testing.
