v0.4.7 · 128.3 MB
An open-source, local-first Notion alternative with self-hosting and offline support.
Core Features
- Local-first: all changes saved locally first, work offline and sync automatically
- Real-time collaboration via CRDTs (Yjs) for conflict-free concurrent editing
- All-in-one: chat, rich text pages, customizable databases (table/kanban/calendar), file manager
- Self-hosted: full data ownership, deploy with Docker or Kubernetes
- Cross-platform web & desktop apps, connect to multiple servers
What It Can't Do
- •Web app is in early preview — expect bugs and browser compatibility issues. Self-hosting requires PostgreSQL + pgvector, Redis, and storage backend. The new config.json-based configuration no longer reads environment variables directly; only values tagged with 'env://' are resolved from env. Migrate your settings accordingly.
Use Cases
- Team collaboration (alternative to Notion/Confluence)
- Remote teams requiring offline access
- Organizations with strict data privacy needs
- Personal knowledge management and project tracking
Detailed Introduction
Colanode is an all-in-one collaboration platform designed with a local-first architecture. It prioritizes data privacy and control by allowing you to self-host the server while all changes are saved to a local SQLite database first, then synced in the background. This means you can work offline without interruption. The app supports real-time chat, rich text pages (similar to Notion), customizable databases with table/kanban/calendar views, and file management. Concurrent editing is handled via CRDTs (Yjs), enabling multiple people to edit the same document simultaneously without conflicts. Colanode is available as a web app, desktop app, or can be deployed using Docker or Kubernetes with PostgreSQL, Redis, and an S3-compatible storage backend.
