v1.5.6 · 171.3 MB

Paste a link and get ready-to-publish short clips with subtitles, covers, and captions for every major short-video platform.

Core Features

  • One-link workflow: paste a URL and auto-generate finished short clips
  • Automatic subtitles, cover images, and platform-ready post copy
  • Presets for Douyin, Xiaohongshu, TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Bilibili
  • Vertical interview, full-screen podcast, and original-aspect output styles
  • Local editing and rendering with a built-in editor for fine-tuning

What It Can't Do

  • •The app is free but cloud AI models are billed per use, so you must bring your own API key and credits. It cannot auto-publish — uploading clips to platforms is manual. Auto-selected segments and subtitles can contain errors, so review everything in the editor before posting. Processing long videos takes time and demands a reasonably powerful machine.

Use Cases

  • Podcasters slicing full episodes into shareable short clips
  • Creators repurposing long interviews across multiple platforms
  • Adding translated subtitles to foreign-language talks for new audiences
  • Batch-producing shorts from courses, keynotes, or livestreams

Detailed Introduction

AutoClip is an open-source, MIT-licensed desktop application for AI video clipping and content repurposing. Paste a link to a long podcast, interview, talk, or course, pick a target platform, and it automatically produces finished short videos complete with subtitles, cover images, and publishing copy tailored to Douyin, Xiaohongshu, TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Bilibili, and YouTube. All clipping and rendering happens locally on your own computer; cloud AI models are pay-as-you-go, and a built-in editor lets you fine-tune cuts, subtitles, and framing when needed. Multiple output styles are supported, including vertical interview layouts, full-screen podcast layouts, and horizontal original-aspect cuts. The project ships a desktop app, a CLI, and an MCP server in sync. Compared with closed SaaS clippers such as OpusClip, AutoClip's unique strengths are full source transparency and local rendering — you keep control of your footage, pay only for the model calls you actually use, and avoid subscription lock-in. The software itself is free; you only need your own model API key and credits.
