v2.11.1 · 214.3 MB
One dashboard to watch global news, conflicts, markets, and infrastructure in real time — on web, desktop, terminal, or via AI agents.
Core Features
- AI-synthesized global news briefs
- Dual map engine: 3D globe and WebGL flat map
- Country Instability Index for 31 major countries
- Finance radar covering stocks, commodities, and crypto
- Cross-stream correlation of military, disaster, and cyber signals
What It Can't Do
- •Some data sources require your own API credentials before they work; AI-generated briefs may contain errors, so verify critical information against original sources; data can be delayed and is not a substitute for professional intelligence or emergency warning systems; the AGPL-3.0 license means commercial network services built on modified code must also be open-sourced; a constant internet connection is required and there is no offline mode.
Use Cases
- Journalists and researchers tracking geopolitical developments in real time
- Investors correlating breaking news with market and commodity movements
- Developers wiring live global data into AI agents via the MCP server
- Terminal users monitoring world events with npx worldmonitor
World Monitor is an open-source, real-time global intelligence dashboard that unifies AI-powered news aggregation, geopolitical monitoring, and critical infrastructure tracking into a single situational awareness interface. It ships with curated news feeds synthesized into briefs by AI, a dual map engine (3D globe via globe.gl and a WebGL flat map via deck.gl), a Country Instability Index covering 31 major countries, a finance radar for stocks, commodities and crypto, plus cross-stream correlation of military, economic and disaster signals. Compared to single-purpose tools like GDELT or Google News, its unique strength is platform breadth: web app, native desktop builds for Windows/macOS/Linux (Tauri), a terminal dashboard via npx, a CLI, SDKs for Python, Ruby and Go, and an MCP server so AI agents can query it directly. It can run entirely on local models through Ollama with no API keys required, and one codebase powers six site variants (world, tech, finance, commodity, happy, energy). Licensed AGPL-3.0 with over 88k GitHub stars.
