A Go-based terminal multiplexer with BSP tiling, workspaces, and persistent sessions. Unlike tmux, it natively detects coding agents like Claude Code and Codex, shows their live state, and funnels approvals into a unified Inbox.

v0.10.1 · 18.5 MB

A tiling terminal window manager that tracks what your AI coding agents are doing and collects their approvals in one Inbox.

Core Features

  • BSP tiling, 9 workspaces, and a vim-like modal interface
  • Detects 24 agent CLIs and shows live state for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and more
  • Unified Inbox for approvals, questions, errors and finished turns across sessions and machines
  • Daemon keeps sessions alive across restarts and reaches sessions on remote machines
  • Command palette, app launcher, session rail sidebar, and kitty graphics support

What It Can't Do

  • •Requires a true-color terminal, with Ghostty, Kitty, or WezTerm recommended for full image support. Windows builds exist but the best experience is on Unix-like systems. The project is pre-1.0, so keybindings and configuration may change between releases. Building from source requires Go 1.26.6 or newer. If you installed via a package manager, upgrade through it instead of using tuios update.

Use Cases

  • Running multiple AI coding agents in parallel and instantly seeing which one needs your input
  • Replacing tmux with a modern tiling UI, sidebar, and flicker-free image rendering
  • Managing long-lived development sessions across several machines
  • Surfacing builds and deploy scripts as first-class status items next to your agents

TUIOS (Terminal UI Operating System) is a modern terminal multiplexer and tiling window manager written in Go on the Charm stack (Bubble Tea v2, Lipgloss v2). It offers a vim-like modal interface with BSP tiling, 9 workspaces, a fuzzy command palette and app launcher, a session rail sidebar, and kitty graphics support, all with event-driven rendering for near-zero idle CPU. A background daemon keeps sessions alive across restarts and can reach sessions on other machines. Its standout difference versus tmux or Zellij is first-class agent awareness: it detects 24 agent CLIs, integrates with 19 harnesses such as Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI, and shows whether each agent is working, waiting, done, or errored. A unified Inbox collects approvals, questions, and errors from every session and machine, while a review view lets you inspect an agent's diff and send notes back. It even ships a tmux shim so tools that drive tmux keep working. MIT licensed, with prebuilt binaries for Linux, macOS, Windows, FreeBSD, and OpenBSD.
