v1.0.2 · 239 MB
A self-hosted AI assistant for your whole household or team — one process, all data local.
Core Features
- Single-process deployment: web dashboard, CLI, IM channels, and cron in one command
- Multi-user, multi-agent: isolated workspaces per user with 16 MBTI persona templates
- Broad IM support: Feishu, DingTalk, QQ, WeChat, WeCom, Telegram, Discord
- RAG knowledge base and extensible plugin system
- Remote desktop, browser automation, and AI-assisted terminal
What It Can't Do
- •Requires Python 3.12+ and basic command-line familiarity; you must supply your own LLM API keys or local model — no free model is bundled; AgentTeams multi-agent coordination is still in Beta; some IM channels (e.g., WeChat) may face platform restrictions; remote desktop experience varies across operating systems.
Use Cases
- Personal assistant for weekly reports, notes, and scheduling with persistent memory
- Family sharing under one admin account with per-member agents
- Team helper routing tasks into Feishu/DingTalk/WeCom group chats
- Developer workflows delegating code to OpenCode or Claude Code via ACP
- Web automation with headless browsing, screenshots, and remote desktop
Octop is an open-source, self-hosted AI assistant platform for households and small teams. A single process serves the web dashboard, CLI, IM channels (Feishu, DingTalk, QQ, WeChat, Telegram, Discord, WeCom), and cron automation, with all data stored locally. Each user gets multiple specialized agents with isolated workspaces, 16 MBTI persona templates, an expert library and market, RAG knowledge bases, connectors, plugins, and two-way ACP integration for IDE workflows with OpenCode or Claude Code. Compared to Dify, Octop is much lighter to deploy — a single pip install and one command, no container orchestration needed. Compared to Open WebUI, it provides native multi-user JWT isolation, multi-agent teams, and extensive IM channel bridging. Security features include tool approval, shell guardrails, and PII redaction, keeping privacy a non-compromise.
