v0.3.5 · 42.3 MB
A tiny, self-hosted personal AI agent whose entire codebase you can actually read and own.
Core Features
- Runs in a browser WebUI or native terminal TUI out of the box
- Connects to Telegram, Discord, Slack, WeChat, Feishu, Email, Mattermost, and Linear
- Built-in tools read PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files for summarization
- Shell access, web search and fetch, MCP integrations, cron jobs, and multi-agent delegation
- Dream long-term memory keeps preferences and session history across chats
What It Can't Do
- •Note: nanobot does not include an AI model—you must supply your own API key (usage fees apply) or a local model server. It requires Python 3.11+, and plain pip installs may fail with an externally-managed-environment error, so prefer the official installer or uv. Because the agent can run shell commands and read/write files, restrict its permissions and never expose it unprotected on a sensitive production server. Before upgrading, back up the config directory and workspace so sessions and long-term memory are not lost.
Use Cases
- Chat in the browser or terminal to read reports, organize files, and draft summaries
- Embed the agent in Telegram or Discord for on-the-go mobile conversations
- Run long-horizon goals and scheduled automations like daily news digests
- Integrate agent capabilities into your own apps via the Python SDK or OpenAI-compatible API
nanobot is an open-source, MIT-licensed personal AI agent framework built by HKUDS, trusted by nearly 50k GitHub stargazers. It runs in a browser WebUI, a native terminal TUI, or inside chat apps like Telegram, Discord, Slack, WeChat, Feishu, Email, Mattermost, and Linear. Out of the box it reads PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, executes shell commands, searches and fetches web content, generates images, schedules cron automations, and coordinates multi-agent workflows via MCP. Its Dream memory system keeps session history and long-term preferences, while a Python SDK and OpenAI-compatible API make integration trivial. It works with any OpenAI-compatible provider or local model server, with fallback model support. From a technical-review standpoint, nanobot's key differentiators are weight and transparency: compared with OpenClaw it offers a dramatically smaller, fully readable core you can audit in an afternoon, and compared with LangChain it is a ready-to-run assistant rather than a low-level SDK requiring weeks of assembly. If you want a persistent, chat-native AI agent you fully own and can self-host, nanobot is one of the leanest credible options available.

If installed via the one-line installer, delete the ~/.nanobot/venv directory to remove the program. If installed with uv, run uv tool uninstall nanobot-ai; with pip, run python -m pip uninstall nanobot-ai. Configuration, memory, and session data live in the ~/.nanobot directory—back it up if needed, then delete it manually for a complete removal.

unsloth
Unsloth is the first desktop app to run and train AI models locally. It supports a wide range of models including Qwen3.8, Kimi K3, MiniMax-H3, Gemma 4, DeepSeek-V4, and FLUX. Unlike most local model tools that focus only on inference, Unsloth adds a full training stack: fine-tune LLMs, diffusion, TTS, and embedding models 2× faster with 70% less VRAM. It also supports LoRA, QLoRA, RL, GRPO, DPO, and FP8. The app includes built-in Agents & Tools integration (Claude Code, Codex, MCP), private search and RAG, image/video diffusion, and audio support. With hardware support for CPU, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, macOS, and multi-GPU setups, plus remote access via Cloudflare, Unsloth is a comprehensive local AI studio. It can export to GGUF, NVFP4, FP8 and offers an OpenAI-compatible API for easy deployment.
