Atlas is an open-source source control system for coding agents, tracking commits, prompts, and reasoning from Claude Code, Codex, and more—all in one searchable, local-first interface.

Source control for AI coding agents—every commit is linked to the session, prompts, and reasoning behind it.

Core Features

  • Each commit is back-linked to the agent session that made it: prompts, tool calls, file diffs—kept together and searchable
  • Run Claude Code, Codex, Atlas's own agent, or any ACP-compatible agent side-by-side on the same codebase, with shared context across sessions
  • Cross-agent shared memory: plans, decisions, file changes, and failures written by one agent are auto-injected into the next
  • Local-first: code, notes, and sessions stay on your machine, fully offline with no account required
  • Use @ mentions to reference local files, symbols, branches, commits, notes, skills, papers, and past sessions before sending a prompt

What It Can't Do

  • •Atlas is not a model provider—you need your own Claude Code, Codex, or other ACP-compatible agent credentials to actually run sessions. The first indexing of a large repository may take extra CPU/RAM. While the popular agents (Claude Code, Codex) are well-tested, some third-party ACP registry agents are still under ongoing quality assurance—stick to mainstream agents for production work. The session database lives in .atlas/ and is gitignored; do not commit it to the repository, and be mindful that secrets are scrubbed but not guaranteed to be 100% removed.

Use Cases

  • Developers running multiple coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) who want a single, auditable source of truth for all changes
  • Teams that need to explain and review AI-produced commits long after the original session ended
  • Anyone who wants to switch agent tools mid-project without losing accumulated context and decisions

Atlas turns coding agent chaos into a manageable timeline. Every run of Claude Code, Codex, or your own agent creates a checkpoint that links the exact commit to the prompts, tool calls, and reasoning behind it—so you can always see which agent did what and why. Run multiple agents side by side against the same codebase, switch mid-task without losing context, and let a shared on-device memory carry decisions from one agent to the next. Notes in markdown, AGENTS.md files, and past sessions are injected into every prompt automatically. Everything stays local by default; only sync to a team when you choose. Unlike fragmented agent log viewers, Atlas provides a true commit-linked checkpoint graph with cross-agent memory, making it far easier to audit and resume complex AI-assisted development.

Uninstall Info

Atlas can be uninstalled like any normal app (drag to Trash on macOS, uninstaller on Windows). If you no longer need recorded session history or shared memory, manually delete the .atlas/ folder inside each project (it's gitignored). Uninstalling Atlas itself does not modify your source code or remove CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md files.

No Extra Dependencies

Ready to use after download. No additional runtime required.
