Toolset for modding DirectX games with shader replacement, buffer injection, and HDR support.

Overview

RenoDX is a toolset for modding DirectX games, built on Reshade's add-on system. It enables shader replacement, buffer injection, overlays, swapchain upgrades, and settings persistence. Includes an FPS limiter, devkit, and a Shader Model 6.0+ decompiler.

Currently it can replace shaders, inject buffers, add overlays, upgrade swapchains, upgrade texture resources, and write user settings to disk. Because RenoDX uses Reshade's add-on system, compatibility is expected to be pretty wide. Using Reshade simplifies all the hooks necessary to tap into DirectX without worrying about patching version-specific exe files.\n\n\n# Contributing\n\n* See [CONTRIBUTING.md](./docs/CONTRIBUTING.md)\n* For the live devkit and MCP workflow, see [DEVKIT_MCP.md](./docs/DEVKIT_MCP.md)\n\n# Mods\n\n* See [Mods page](https://github.com/clshortfuse/renodx/wiki/Mods)\n\n# Utilities\n\n* [renodx-fpslimiter.addon64](https://clshortfuse.github.io/renodx/renodx-fpslimiter.addon64) – FPS Limiter\n* [renodx-devkit.addon64](https://clshortfuse.github.io/renodx/renodx-devkit.addon64) – Developer kit to help build addons\n* [decomp.exe](https://clshortfuse.github.io/renodx/decomp.exe) – Shader Model 6.0+ Decompiler\n\n

Troubleshooting
How do I fix RenoDX crashing Satisfactory DX12/SM6 on Proton with corrupted DXBC bytecode and a RADV segfault?

Update RenoDX to a build containing commit 448e07082d952f04ded628d71d40e77e169baf47 or newer. The crash was caused by a device-keyed shader entry surviving a temporary D3D12 device teardown/addon reload; when ReShade reused the device-wrapper address, RenoDX could read stale process memory and pass invalid DXBC to vkd3d-proton/RADV, causing pipeline-creation crashes. Replace your existing RenoDX binary with the fixed build, then relaunch Satisfactory with your normal WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=n,b" ReShade setup. If you cannot use an official build immediately, the verified stopgap is commit c7f26f3bcd843cb7e42053cc674c0ae5fc0fa64b, but the official fix should be preferred.

Troubleshooting
How do I fix RenoDX black screen after restarting Starfield when the Advanced Mode option is missing in ReShade?

Enable **DLSS Frame Generation support** in the RenoDX options, then click the button that writes Reshade.ini automatically. If the UI option is unavailable, close the game and manually add the following to Reshade.ini in your Starfield game folder:

[ADDON]
LoadFromDllMain=renodx-starfield.addon64

Save the file and launch Starfield again. This forces the RenoDX add-on to load through DllMain and resolves the black screen that occurs on the second launch.

How do I stop ToneMapUINits from controlling overall brightness in GTA V Enhanced?

Install the renodx DLSS fix addon alongside the GTA V Enhanced game-specific addon. The fix decouples ToneMapUINits (UI brightness) from the game's overall brightness/brightness ceiling. Update to an addon version containing the fix(gtav-enhanced): decouple UI brightness from overall brightness change.

How do I fix the black screen and crash when using multiple Unreal Engine mods in Halo Campaign Evolved?

Use the **Extended Unreal** mod/loader when running multiple Unreal Engine mods with Halo Campaign Evolved. Users report that this resolves the black screen followed by a game crash. The attempted ReShade.ini workaround with Upgrade R10G10B10A2_UNORM and output-size settings is not reliable, especially if the INI file is not being generated or loaded.

How to fix Renodx not working after Final Fantasy VII Rebirth update 1.0.0.5?

Update Renodx to the latest release or build that includes the fix from pull request #585. Replace the previous Renodx files, then launch Final Fantasy VII Rebirth version 1.0.0.5 again. If you are building from source, pull the latest commit containing PR #585 and rebuild.
